Riley Perrin is Danny and Ben's closest female friend and Emma’s godmother. She had a crush on Ben since they were kids but eventually fell in love with his brother, Danny. Riley and Danny marry and have a baby boy in season six. She is a lawyer.
Background[]
As a young girl, Riley was overweight and fat. Because of this, she was nicknamed "Fatpants" and "Rigantor". She moved to New York from New Jersey. She has been extremely competitive ever since she was young, but she does not like to show that side of her. She and Danny have been friends since childhood, and although Danny has been in love with her since they were six, Riley was oblivious to it and always had a crush on Ben. However, in the end Riley Perrin ends up marrying Danny (keeping her last name) and they have a baby boy together.

Season 1[]
In Pilot, Riley comes over to help Ben, Danny, and Tucker with Ben's new baby after she gets a call from Danny. Ben is surprised at her new look, having previously thought she still had a heavyset frame. She tells the guys she needed some items, so Ben and Tucker quickly leave. While they are gone, Danny finds out about her crush on Ben.
When she tries to leave after helping them, Danny blackmails her by using her crush on Ben. He tells Ben to tell her not to leave and Ben agrees and hugs Riley.
The next day, while hanging out, Danny asks her how long she had had a crush on Ben, but Riley doesn't know. He tells her she should move on since Ben had a baby. Riley thinks Ben could take care of Emma, but Danny counters, saying he had signed the adoption papers. Riley thinks it was only because no one believed he could do it since they all pushed for him to sign them.
She leaves to go help Ben with the baby since Bonnie was leaving. Before she can get to his door, Danny stops her and tells her to let him take care of her by himself or he'd never believe in himself and she agrees. When Tucker comes by, they stop him too and Ben is forced to change her diaper by himself. Danny, Riley, and Tucker eat and sleep out in the hall. The next day, Ben tells them he wanted to raise Emma.
In I Told You So, Riley gets a text from Ben and goes to his job and asks him what the problem was. Ben loudly reprimands her before telling her that he wasn't allowed to bring Emma to work, so he told his boss that her mother was outside smoking. Riley shrugs it off and has a drink.
Ben gets a date and leaves Emma in Danny and Tucker's care. After calling them both, he realizes neither of them was with Emma and rushes home. Bonnie and Riley come and he sees that they have her and he tells Emma he never wanted her out of his sight again.
In The Nurse and the Curse, Ben and Tucker take Emma to her first doctor's appointment and Ben ends up asking the nurse out on a date, much to Riley's jealousy. She does not believe someone could be so chipper all the time, but Ben manages to get her to befriend Cassie. At Danny's first game with the NY Rangers, Cassie tells Riley that she knew Riley had a crush on Ben, but Riley denies it. Cassie tells her she didn't see her as competition since to Ben, she would always be "Fat Pants" and Riley gets in a fight with her which is broadcasted on the jumbotron.
In Guys, Interrupted, Ben urges Riley to go on a date with her study buddy.
In Married to the Job, When Ben's boss believes Ben and Riley are married, Ben uses her to get a promotion. She initially agrees to go along with the plan, but sees that Ben has kissed a woman in the hallway to the bathroom. It turns out that the woman is the boss' daughter and Ben had recently got her number. Riley storms out and the boss thinks that it is a marital argument. She is glad when Ben tells her that he didn't take the job due to the amount of travel required for the job.
In Take Her Out of the Ballgame, She is elected as the captain of Ben's softball team, but takes the game too serious. The team members decide to kick her out of the position and reinstate Ben as the captain. Riley finds out via text and storms out of Ben's balcony. Riley and Ben make up after Ben visits her at the baseball field and says that he wants her to be part of his life and his team.
In Something Borrowed, Something Ben, She is named the maid of honor for her friend Katie's wedding. She figures out that Ben and Katie woke up in the same bed. Ben gives an amazing romantic speech to Katie to get her to go through with the wedding. After the wedding, Ben and Riley are on the rooftop and they share a romantic dance. Danny overlooks and devastated.

Ben Wheeler[]
Riley and Ben are childhood friends, with her secretly harboring a crush on him, but he doesn't notice. However, in Season 2, they seem to develop a small romance as he begins to have feelings for Riley. In season 3, they began dating, however it didn't last long due to the reappearance of Emma's mother. They also dated for a brief period in season 4, but they broke up again, officially ending their relationship for good in An Officer and a Gentle Ben. Despite this, they care deeply for each other and he trusted her to become Emma's godmother. They became in-laws after her marriage to Danny and giving birth to his nephew Puck.
Danny Wheeler[]
Riley's oldest and best friend. Danny has been in love with Riley since childhood, but she never noticed it. In season 3, after Ben and Riley start going out, Danny is very uncomfortable being around them and tries avoiding them. He is still supportive unlike Ben sometimes. He boards the plane to leave for Paris, France with his girlfriend Georgie but Georgie breaks up for him through voicemail. He lives with Riley because the rest of his family doesn't know he is back yet. Riley and Danny soon end up dating and he proposes to her at the end of Season 4; she faints and then she pretends to have not remembered what happened. Later in that episode he gives her a someday proposal, meaning some day she will marry him. They then have a mis-communication over Sam in season 5 because Danny didn't remember having sex with her. They go on to fight for two months but eventually clear it up. Mrs. Wheeler left an earring in Ben's room and Emma finds it and uses it to poke holes in all of his condoms (which all the guys use) which results in Danny getting Riley pregnant. She tells Danny about the baby by putting a pacifier in a ring box, getting down on one knee and telling him the news. In season 6 episode 8, Danny and Riley get married and in the finale they become parents to a baby boy.
Bonnie Wheeler[]
Ben's and Danny's mom. She and Riley get along but Bonnie often criticizes Riley about her past, much to her chagrin. Riley and Bonnie often give each other advice over Danny, since their dating. An example is with the meat waffle, Bonnie told Riley to cook bad food for Danny/Ben that way she won't ever have to cook again, and it worked. They fight often because Bonnie wants Riley to do specific stuff with her but Riley doesn't.
Emma Wheeler[]
Riley is Emma's godmother. She met Emma when Danny called her for help after Emma was dropped at Ben's door. While she is one of the few main characters with no biological relation to Emma, she is a close friend of the family and frequently babysits for Ben. Ben considers Riley to be a female role model for Emma and wants her to grow up to be just like Riley. In fact, in Parental Guidance, Riley agreed to be Emma's legal guardian if anything ever happens to Ben, despite the deep anxiety caused by her own maternal situation. She is Emma's aunt after Danny proposes and they get married - she is also currently carrying Emma's cousin.
